🌿Only when we care for both nature and humanity does a trip become truly joyful
A trip to Igatpuri - Taked Road
I had to go to Igatpuri on work recently.
The nature there in monsoon is just beautiful. From Bhandardara, natural water slides form on their own. Streams, small rivers, waterfalls… everything feels magical. The waterfall was especially captivating.

*But…*
In the last 2-3 years, a lot of hills have been cut to build resorts. It doesn’t really feel aligned with nature or CRZ/environmental/forest rules. In a few years we might see the effects, because natural water drainage won’t be easy anymore 😇

*What I noticed:*
All roads to the waterfalls were closed. Police didn’t allow parking. 1 jeep, 2 vans — strict monitoring, just to avoid crowds and keep things safe.

*Later I came to know why:*
There had been fights between locals and tourists. Even serious incidents happened during resettlement issues. So now there are limits on free movement and fun.

*A request to all of us:*
1. *To tourists:* Please don’t look down on locals. Many poor families earn by selling tea and bhajji on these roads. They work hard. Don’t show off money or pride. Remember, they have hearts too.
2. *To locals:* Please follow “Atithi Devo Bhava”. Don’t fight with tourists out of jealousy or competition. These days small ego clashes can turn big, so patience is needed.
*Some locals also shared:*
A few tourists drink, talk rudely, don’t listen, cross limits in dress and behavior, dance without sense, and make locals feel small with their money. That’s why such problems happen.

I heard 2 people describe a very scary incident. They genuinely don’t want it to happen again.

*The essence:*
If you visit such places, please avoid alcohol, be mindful of dress, behavior, and noise. Respect the local culture.
Otherwise police will have to keep banning entry to these places.

*Personally for me:*
I loved it because the beauty is in _seeing_ nature — the waterfall, the stream. Not in jumping into it. Just capture it on camera, thank God, and enjoy the peace.
But because of alcohol and bad behavior, good tourists and honest local vendors also suffer.

*My small advice:*
There’s a big difference between your beauty and nature’s beauty. Be careful with clothes and behavior.
Enjoy nature, take photos, but avoid risky selfies.
And please… take in nature’s water, not alcohol, in nature.

This is such an important observation. Nature gives us peace only when we respect it, and the people who live there too.

Have you seen similar issues at other tourist spots around Kalyan/Maharashtra too?
